Members of the RSM, Utrecht University, and Fraunhofer FIT COMPOSITE teams were given a fascinating insight into Heerlen policing, in a packed day of events arranged by our Heerlen policing colleagues.

Located within the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion, Heerlen represents a key geographical location, lying at the intersection between Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.  The diverse nature of policing activities in this border region was clearly demonstrated in a full program of presentations on topics ranging from internet policing to Euroregion collaboration. In addition we were introduced to the award winning ‘heart-beat’ initiative. This long-term project, specifically targeting drug issues in the Heerlen area, represents an integrative and sustained program, led by police and the community to address drug related crime in their area. We would like to extend our thanks to all those who were involved in arranging this inspiring event.
