This year’s first Strategic Advisory Board and the second End User Board Meeting was held on the 10th of December 2012 at the Mercure Hotel in Potsdam (Germany). Members of the respective boards were informed about the current state of the COMPOSITE project and discussed upcoming steps of the project.
On the forenoon of the 10th of December, first insights and general questions have been presented to members of the End User Board by Sebastian Denef (Fraunhofer Institut for Applied Information Technology, Work Package 4 leader), Gabriele Jacobs (Erasmus University Rotterdam, project coordinator) who presented on behalf of Work Package 5 leader, Laszlo Polos from Durham Business School, Kate Horton and Saskia Petra Bayerl (both Erasmus University Rotterdam, Work Package 6 & 7). Furthermore, Sebastian Denef also provided freshly released "Best Practice in Police Social Media Adaption" brochures which can be downloaded for free from the COMPOSITE website. For the general content of the work packages: see the project flow of COMPOSITE.
After being briefed on the discussion during the End User Board Meeting, the Strategic Advisory Board Members got an overview of Action Line I by Arjan van den Born (Utrecht University, Work Package 1 leader) while presenting the key results of the external environment analysis (Work Package 1), internal capabilities of policing (Work Package 2), knowledge sharing within and between police forces (Work Package 3) and technology (Work Package 4). The further focus was then on the added value of the project, dissemination and exploitation. Thus, Gabriele Jacobs presented reflections on COMPOSITE’s contributions to police sciences and European policing and some ideas regarding training and consultancy. The project dissemination activities have been reported by Jochen Christe-Zeyse (University of Applied Sciences of the State Police of Brandenburg, Action Line III and Work Package 9 leader). The Strategic Advisory Board Members gave their feedback on the presented topics and indicated what should be highlighted regarding dissemination and exploitation in the next two years of the remaining duration of the COMPOSITE project. Additional, a Youtube video on knowledge sharing capabilities of police organisations (Work Package 3) by Kamal Birdi (University of Sheffield, Work Package 3 leader) was shown to the attendees (the video is available via: http://youtu.be/lxiziQ2ahVQ).
