Understanding organisational change and the role of culture and identity in European policing was discussed by Dr Gabriele Jacobs with a group of Danish police officers at the supervisory and strategic level on January 15, 2013. The interest in the insights of COMPOSITE proved to be high. Copenhagen Business School offers a programme on public governance where management and strategic theories are taught to a group of high rank practitioners from the public sector. COMPOSITE was perceived as an interesting contribution to the Executive master of Public Governance, since it stresses the cultural contingency of policing and the role of policing identity in understanding reactions to organisational change. Discussions on the Danish policing identity in comparison with "the rest of Europe" were vivid and generated new important insights. One of them is certainly, that the Scandinavian perspective is so far underrepresented in COMPOSITE and should be further explored.
